Topic Overview

In this program, you will learn about the economic challenges facing the state of New Jersey and opportunities for growth from which New Jersey companies can benefit, and how you can help your company plan for the future. The presentation will first give directors a grounding of the facts about New Jersey's economy based on the research conducted by the two experts leading our discussion: James W. Hughes, Dean, and Joseph J. Seneca, Professor, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University.

Certain industries and employment opportunities have declined over the last 10 years and New Jersey is losing its technology edge. Their 2006 research quantified many disturbing trends in the state.

The second part of the presentation will discuss actions that are being taken to counter these trends and how New Jersey companies can most effectively compete in this changing market. This background information will enable directors to more intelligently evaluate company strategy and potential value of business initiatives.
